Urban textures, a stained brick wall or a frosted window, peeling paint or the patches of a subway where the walls have been repaired. I use creative techniques to combine these with natural forms from my old photographs, building them up layer by layer.  It's an absorbing process, a matter of trial, error and exploration and inspired by impressionist painting, detaching  the form and detail from their context to create something new and unreal.
